Privacy policy

Last updated: November 7, 2026

This page explains what data learning-excel collects, why, who it is shared with and how to exercise your rights. We collect only what is needed to run the course.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Sinclair Eric, publisher of learning-excel. For any question about your data: sinclair@learning-excel.com.

2. The data we collect

  • Your account: email address, password (stored encrypted by our authentication provider, never in plain text), first name (optional) and language.
  • Your progress: completed lessons, points, day streak and the result of each exercise (right on the first try, solution shown…).
  • Your projects: the Excel workbooks you upload, grades, AI comments, deadlines, and the name you enter for your certificate.
  • Your subscription: plan, status and dates; for a mobile money payment, the country and amount requested. We never see your card number or phone number: they are entered with Stripe and PawaPay.
  • Our emails: the address we write to (welcome message, reminder before access paid by mobile money ends).
  • Audience measurement (Google Analytics), only if you accept it in the banner.
  • Your country, worked out from your IP address by our host so prices show in your currency. It is not stored.

3. Why we use it

  • To provide the service you asked for (contract): account, progress, projects, grading, subscription, certificate.
  • To meet our legal obligations: keeping payment records.
  • Our legitimate interest: securing the site, limiting abuse (number of uploads, payment attempts) and showing limited public rankings (see below).
  • Your consent: audience measurement. You can withdraw it at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the page.

4. Public rankings

On the course map, “today’s high scores” and “high streaks” show the first word of your first name (16 characters at most) if you set one, otherwise “Learner” followed by four characters unrelated to your identity, and a number. No email address is shown. To avoid appearing with your first name, leave that field empty in your profile.

5. Artificial intelligence

Two features use a language model supplied by a provider: the formula assistant (it receives the exercise instructions and the answer you typed) and project grading (it receives a summary of your workbook: formulas, structure, texts). Neither your email address nor your name is sent to them. Do not put personal data in the workbooks you upload. The AI grade can contain mistakes; the owner may review your uploads before signing a certificate.

6. Providers that process your data

  • Supabase: database, authentication and private storage of workbooks.
  • Vercel: website hosting.
  • Stripe: card payments. PawaPay: mobile money payments.
  • Resend: sending emails.
  • Google: Google Analytics, if you accept it.
  • A language model provider: formula assistant and project grading.

Some of these providers are located outside the European Union; they apply appropriate safeguards (for example the European Union’s standard contractual clauses).

7. Cookies and storage in your browser

  • Necessary, no consent needed: the login session, the chosen language (exe_locale), your progress before or without an account (exe_progress_v1), the banner choice (exe_consent_v1) and a session marker for the welcome email.
  • Only with your consent: Google Analytics cookies (audience measurement).

8. How long we keep it

Your account data, progress and projects are kept as long as your account exists. Payment records are kept for the legal period. Google Analytics data follows the retention set in our Google Analytics account. Payment and email providers keep their own logs under their own rules.

9. Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, its correction or erasure, restriction of or objection to its processing, and its portability, and withdraw your consent at any time. To delete your account and data, or for any request, write to sinclair@learning-excel.com; we answer within one month. You can also contact the data protection authority of your country (in France, the CNIL).

10. Security

The site is served over HTTPS; passwords are encrypted; uploaded workbooks are stored in a private space readable only by you (through the site) and by the owner; payments are processed by Stripe and PawaPay, not by this site.

11. Changes

We may update this policy; the date at the top of the page shows the latest version.
